Freddie Mercury

Have you ever listened to the songs like "we are the champions?" or "we will rock you" at many moments in your life? Yap, it’s from Queen. However, did you know who is the masterpiece behind this  band? He is Freddie Mercury. He was born as Farrokh Bulsara and had been living in India since he was a kid. After moving to England, he changed his name as Freddie Mercury. Well actually, I don't want to talk more about his past life here because I'm going to talk about his songs and his band.

So the story begins in 1986 when two students from London's Imperial College Brian May and Tim Staffell wanted a band and they made ads to promote it,they were looking for drummer and Roger Meddows Taylor succeed joined the band. They started SMILE as the name of the band but in 1970 Tim Staffell left from Smile and joined another band  (you deserve a regret man). After Tim left the group, Farrokh Bulsara from Ealing College of Arts joined and changed SMILE into QUEEN,John Deacon joined as the youngest member. After graduating, they started to more active in many events like in the school or other places.

Freddie changed his name after joining QUEEN.  He was very talented, he made the logo of Queen by himself,he designed the clothes for all the members and he almost all of Queen's song was made by Freddie. I'm not wondering, he graduated from art school and that was very good. He could do everything about arts. He better was known as a flamboyant man with eccentric style and adoring yellow as the favorite color(you can see his clothes). He liked Cats ohh cats everywhere and sometimes he talked to his cat. and the weird thing he did, he called his cat in the telephone for 3 hours.
Despite his attractive style, in other condition, he was a taciturn and talk less person.

In the 1970s, Queen was not good as another band like Led Zeppelin before, especially in America they were nothing. But Queen didn't give up easily,Freddie created 'Bohemian Rhapsody' as the real evidence of his interest in Opera. Some producers underestimated the song. They thought that the song was weird and too long(but hey jude also too long!). The philosophy of this song also unknown as general, and when people asked Freddie what is the meaning,he said "you can mean it by yourself,it is up you".
There is also 'Love of my life' as one of the greatest hits from Queen. The history of this song is very sad I think. Freddie had his love of my life named Marry Austin. He swore to love the girl for the rest of his life. But they separated because of Freddie's bad habits(wasting money, drinking and smoking). He was very sad and made that song. But they still are close friend until the end of Freddie's life.

In 1985, Freddie diagnosed with HIV aids, he decided to keep it as a secret and kept going with Queen. It happened because of Freddie's bad lifestyle. Some medias said that he was a bisexual. Freddie decided to stop the treatment and wanted to enjoy life. His last appearance was in 11th Brit Awards held on February 18,1990.(He was gravely ill at that time! and other Queen's members knew it). This rumors had swirled since 1986 but Freddie denied it.
Queen took the stage at the Brith Awards to accept that year's Outstanding Contribution to British Music honor. In fact, it was May who had spoken on Queen's behalf, stepping up to the mic to offer thanks. "everyone in the industry and, perhaps more importantly, outside the industry who stuck behind us all these years" with giving the band a lot of freedom to pursue what we loosely call our art to any extent we felt like at the time," and after May's speech. Freddie leaning briefly into the mic to say simply "THANK YOU... GOODNIGHT" he exited with his bandmates.

the final footage of Freddie is on 'These Are the Days of Our Lives'. In the final scene, decicedFreddie sits down the steps and he did very gingerly. Freddie decided to make the video in black and white so his illness was invisible. (saddest moment). 6 month after making that video, Freddie died. November 22 in 1991,he confirmed his diagnosis and a little more than 24 hours later,he was gone.

As the flamboyant from man of Queen, HE IS THE GREATEST MUSICIAN EVER. I was not born in Queen era, actually I know Queen from my uncle's CD tapes and I began listening to Queen's song. My favorites are Bohemian Rhapsody,Radio Ga Ga, Love of  My Life, To Love Somebody, We are the Champion,We Will Rock You, Don't Stop Me Now and others. First thing tha I confess is, I don't like rock genre, but when I listen to Queen, it sounds infinite and everlasting. Their music is very impressive and evergreen. Especially the man of the match, Freddie Mercury. Even if his life is shorter than we wish, but his existence is still here. Even if his teeth were not as perfect as the other teeth, oh damn it's not a big problem at all. The man with the perfect teeth in this world is nothing when you compare with Freddie Mercury.
